Brussels Airport is the new main sponsor of the Brussels Marathon & Half Marathon

Registration possible from 28 February

Brussels Airport is the new title sponsor of the Brussels Marathon & Half Marathon for the next three years. As the airport at the heart of Europe, Brussels Airport connects the country’s capital with the rest of the world and the airport will also attract increased attention internationally for the Marathon & Half Marathon. The Brussels Airport Marathon & Half Marathon will be taking place this year on 28 October. Participants can register for the event from 28 February.

As new title sponsor of the Brussels Marathon & Half Marathon, Brussels Airport wants to offer all participants - whether professional or amateur, newcomer or seasoned athlete, young or old, from Brussels or the rest of the country - an athletic challenge near to the airport. As sponsor, Brussels Airport will also encourage airport staff to participate in one of the various competitions included in the event.

“As airport with a wide worldwide network of destinations, we want to make the name and fame of the Brussels Airport Marathon & Half Marathon even better known internationally. This event, with its international allure, is a perfect opportunity to unite the Belgian people behind a common sports event, and to display the tourist delights of our capital and our country, such as the architecture, the comic book culture or our gastronomy to a large audience”, says Arnaud Feist, CEO of Brussels Airport Company.

The Brussels Airport Marathon & Half Marathon will, for the second year in succession, be part of the Great Run Series, a collection of prestigious long runs in Europe and a predicate for high quality. This is why the event is attracting an ever-growing international public wanting to combine a visit to Brussels with an athletic challenge. Last year, 20% of the more than 13,000 participants came from abroad.

The 15th Brussels Airport Marathon & Half Marathon will take place on 28 October 2018. This date allows most athletes a little more preparation time after the summer holidays, during which training is less intensive.

Registration is possible from Wednesday 28 February on www.brusselsairportmarathon.be
