Brussels Airport receives environmental permit for first phase of Hub 3.0: an important step towards the airport of the future
Brussels Airport has received an environmental permit for the first phase of Hub 3.0, a large-scale project that will prepare the airport infrastructure for the future. This permit allows Brussels Airport to officially start work on the expansion of the arrival and departure hall, the new intermodal hub, the construction of a new hotel and office building, and the creation of the green boulevard and park.
“The granting of the environmental permit for the first phase of Hub 3.0 is an important milestone for Brussels Airport,” says Arnaud Feist, CEO of Brussels Airport. “With this project, we are investing in a future-oriented airport that not only responds to the expected growth in passenger numbers but, above all, focuses on sustainable mobility solutions and greater comfort and efficiency for all our passengers and airlines.”
The first preparatory works have already started, including the construction of a temporary bus station and the works for the new drop-off area, which will be ready in the fall of 2026. Demolition work to clear the construction site is expected to start in April 2026, after which construction work can begin in 2027. The entire project is scheduled for completion in 2032.
