Runway 07L/25R fully operational again

The maintenance work on runway 07L/25R at Brussels Airport was completed four weekends ahead of schedule due to the favourable weather conditions and the efficient execution of the planned work.

Runway 07L/25R is presently fully operational and will again be used according to the stipulations of the preferential runway system. Due to these maintenance works, a thorough renovation of the runway will not be necessary until next year.

The following works were carried out:

  • The complete replacement of the runway lighting cables: over 100 km of new cables
  • The replacements of a number of lamps on the taxiways near the runway
  • Local repairs to drainage pipes and joint fillings
  • The renovation of 3 adjacent taxiways.

Moreover, Brussels Airport took advantage of the maintenance work to remove the rubber deposit and carry out a detailed technical inspection, which will save us from having to close the runway again for several days.
