The 16th edition of the Brussels Airport Marathon & Half Marathon returns to first Sunday of October
The international running event in the heart of Europe returns to its traditional date in the first weekend of October. The start and the finishing line however will again be located in the majestic Jubelpark/Parc du Cinquantenaire. This year too, the event will be supporting the Demoucelle Parkinson Charity, an organisation which raises funds to sponsor research into finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease. People can sign up for all the different distances from today 17 January.
For many national and international runners, Sunday 6 October 2019 will be a highlight in their calendar. As is tradition, the first race of the day will be the Brussels Airport Marathon, which starts at 09.00am. The full marathon (42.195 km) again enjoyed a distinct growth spurt in 2018, due in part to a large number of participants from abroad. Brussels is fast regaining its time-honoured position as a premium travel destination, with quite a few runners making the most of their marathon by turning it into a nice weekend away in the European capital.
Alongside the marathon, we also provide a packed complementary programme, which includes the 6.5 km Brussels Airport Mini Marathon starting at 09.30am. The bulk of the participants will be shooting out of the starting blocks at 10.30am for the Brussels Airport Half Marathon. Finally, at 11.30am the kiddiewinks will be putting their best leg forward in the Alpro Kids Run.

Jubelpark as the epicentre
Further to the successful try-out in 2018, this year too both the start and the finishing line are back inside the Jubelpark for all distances. In doing so, the organisers continue to confirm their commitment to ensuring the comfort and the experience of participants and supporters alike. The start and finishing line are just 200 metres apart, which makes things a lot more practical for the runners as well as their supporters. The races will start at the bottom of the Jubelpark (facing Schuman) as per tradition. The finishing line is situated underneath the imposing triumphal arches. On 4, 5 and 6 October, the participants will also be allowed inside the inviting Autoworld buildings to enjoy the Brussels Airport Marathon expo.
Running together for charity: Run for Parkinson
The Brussels Airport Marathon & Half Marathon supports the Demoucelle Parkinson Charity. Participants can give the vital research for which this charity raises funds a push by making a donation. Along with a wide number of different actions for charity set up by various companies or groups of participants, the event’s social value is seen to magnify year after year.
